If you’re considering joining us on a Sunday morning, please know you will be most welcome.
We look forward to meeting you!
As you enter the Church you will be greeted in the foyer and handed a Christian Science Quarterly. In the Quarterly, you will find the order of service on the inside front cover. The Quarterly contains the Bible Lessons for this month. The Christian Science Bible Lessons are a daily resource for comfort, support and inspiration. Each Lesson consists of Bible verses, amplified and explained by related passages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
The Sunday service begins at 11 am and lasts about an hour. The format is a bit different from what might be familiar to you. Instead of an ordained clergy person conducting the service, there are two lay Readers who deliver a sermon consisting of selected passages from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, the Christian Science textbook. This sermon is the same sermon read in all Christian Science Churches, Societies, & Organizations.
The hymns that we will sing will be posted on the Hymn Board located at the front of the auditorium.
We have an organist to accompany the hymns and a soloist who leads the singing and performs the solo.
Here’s the order of the usual Sunday service:
- Reading selection from the Bible
- Silent Prayer followed by the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)
with it’s Spiritual Interpretation
- Reading this week’s scriptural selections from the Christian Science Quarterly
- Reading this week’s Sermon
- Reading the Scientific Statement of Being from the Christian Science Textbook, and its correlative text from I John 3:1-3
